Cybersecurity Compliance Training for Government Contractors: A New Era
In response to the evolving cybersecurity landscape, FPS has launched a comprehensive new series of cybersecurity courses designed to meet the latest compliance challenges for government contractors. These new courses reflect the ever-changing nature of cybersecurity and are designed to stay current with the latest regulations and industry needs.
What’s Driving This Program?
CMMC Compliance: The final rule on Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) was released in October 2025, making it crucial for government contractors to stay ahead.
Cybersecurity Threats: The continued rise in domestic and global cyber incidents affecting commercial and government contractors demands proactive training and preparedness.
New Market Entrants: As new companies push cyber training, FPS is well-positioned with over 10 years of cybersecurity training experience and offers trusted and established expertise.
Our Expert Instructors
The course series brings together top-tier instructors from leading organizations:
- Protiviti: Perry Keating and his technical colleagues
- McCarter & English: Alex Major
- Holland & Knight: Eric Crusius
- ForvisMazars: Bill Walter
- Future Feed: Jim Goepel, a key architect of CMMC and expert on Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI)
- CyberCx: Christopher Pogue, a cyber forensics expert and university instructor
Who Should Attend?
These courses target
technical cyber professionals within government contracting organizations, especially those responsible for compliance with
NIST SP 800-171 (110 controls), overseeing system gateways and security, and participating in
CMMC and
FedRAMP assessments. Contract administrators and finance personnel are not the focus here—this is for the technical professionals ensuring cybersecurity compliance.
The Risks of Non-Compliance
Government contractors must understand that failing to comply with CMMC could prevent them from bidding on contracts with CMMC requirements (DFARS 252-204.7012, 7019). The latest rule is expected to roll out gradually, starting with the most critical contractors, but all subs and suppliers must eventually comply or risk losing valuable partnerships.
Many smaller suppliers are hesitant due to the cost of compliance, which could reach as high as $100k, far more than the "minimal" costs the DoD estimates. However, non-compliance could cost far more, both in terms of lost contracts and potential legal ramifications, as the recent case with Georgia Tech demonstrates
(they certified they were cyber compliant, but a whistle-blower said they were not – DOJ is investigating for civil and criminal misconduct). False claims of compliance can lead to severe penalties.
What to Expect?
Our revamped cybersecurity program will roll out in the following locations:
- Tampa, Florida – Launching soon
- La Jolla, California – Following Tampa
- Washington, D.C. – Fall 2025 session
Our cybersecurity courses, with constantly updated content, are designed to address the latest DFARS rules (e.g. DFARS 252-204.7012, 7019, etc.) and prepare contractors for the realities of CMMC compliance. By building a partnership with an IT certification organization, we aim to enhance credibility among IT professionals, ensuring that our training stays relevant and impactful.
