This is session 1 of 12 in the Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) webinar series.

The application of the Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) adds a new level of compliance requirements for contractors and subcontractors. Developed to achieve uniformity and consistency for the measurement, assignment and allocation of costs, organizations frequently deliberate whether a contract is subject to CAS and if so, the level of CAS coverage the contract is subject to. This introductory webinar is the first in a series related to the CAS. The presenters will provide an overview of the CAS and discuss the administrative requirements that come along with CAS coverage.

Upon completion of the hour-long webinar, participants will understand:
  • The intent of CAS and its relationship with the Federal Acquisition Regulation
  • Contracts and subcontracts to which CAS applies and the dollar thresholds that "trigger" the CAS coverage
  • Categories of contracts and subcontracts exempt from CAS requirements
  • Differences between "Full" and "Modified" CAS coverage
  • The 19 standards that make up CAS
  • Disclosure Statement preparation and maintenance requirements
  • Cost accounting practice noncompliances, changes and associated administrative requirements
