This is session 1 of 2 in the Protexcting Government Data- Rules and Regulations Explained virtual course.

The US Federal Government has an interest and obligation to ensure security data is always an urgent matter and whomever is accessing and utilizing data is securely protecting the data from bad actors. Because of the nature of the data and the threats posed by adversaries, contractors must also have protection against data intrusion, external and internal threats that can enter through various means to access sensitive information.

Therefore, the Federal Government has created policies, procedures, rules and regulations to combat these threats.  Anyone conducting business with the Federal Government and especially the DoD, will need to comply with these requirements.

This course continues to change as the government keeps a step ahead of bad actors. The course will review the recent cybersecurity history and set the stage for our current position. We will walk through the various statutes, standards, and challenges the contracting industry faces in compliance.
