U.S. export controls have shifted rapidly in the last few years, and more changes are expected under the Trump Administration. This webinar will assist you in understanding fundamental concepts related to U.S. export controls under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).  Attendees will learn how to spot or identify potential ITAR and EAR compliance risks and will gain an understanding of basic compliance practices and tools for mitigating such risks, including a discussion of potential priorities under the incoming Administration.

Learning Objectives:
  1. Overview of U.S. Export Controls including (i) relevant agencies and regulations, (ii) basic terminology and buzz words, and (ii) consequences of non-compliance including examples.
  2. Basic Concepts for Identifying Risk including (i) export jurisdiction and classification (the Order of Review), (ii) technical data and deemed exports, (iii) prohibited destinations, end users, and end uses; (iv) ITAR registration and ITAR/EAR licensing requirements.
  3. Compliance Practices and Tools for Mitigating Risk such as (i) implementing an effective compliance program; (ii) utilizing commodity jurisdiction and classification determinations; (iii) screening and due diligence; (iv) voluntary self disclosures, (v) training and staying up to date.
  4. Key Export Control Areas to Watch under the new Administration including an initial assessment of export control related priorities.
