Who should attend:
This introductory course is for business executives, international contracting specialists, contract managers and administrators, program and project managers, marketing professionals, engineers and other technical personnel, newly appointed export compliance officers, logistics personnel, and legal and financial advisors.

Learning Objectives:
After completing this course, you will be able to understand basic and important U.S. export control concepts under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR), including:
  • Export jurisdiction and classification analysis of defense and “dual use” hardware, software, and technical data/technology, as well as defense services
  • Export controls concerns related to consumer off-the-shelf (COTS) items
  • Export license requirements and license exemptions or exceptions
  • “Deemed” exports and hiring practices
  • Maintaining an ITAR registration
  • Implementing export compliance programs and technology transfer plans
  • Screening transactions and red flags
  • Clearing export shipments
  • Violations, voluntary disclosures and enforcement
In addition to U.S. export control topics, this course will help you understand certain U.S. sanctions (e.g., against Russia, Iran, Cuba, North Korea, Syria and others) administered by the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). Attendees will gain an understanding of how these regulations impact your ability to do business in the international marketplace.

DID YOU KNOW THAT WE ALSO HAVE AN ADVANCED EXPORT CONTROLS COURSE?
Many Basic Export Controls students also attend the Advanced Export Controls – ITAR, EAR, and Sanctions course, providing attendees with maximum value for their training investment, with case studies and exercises to apply the basic concepts presented in this course and to understand more advanced concepts and learn about current developments.
